Our Enduring Partnership with DAAP’s Fashion Design Program
Splendid Bridal was founded on family values and a commitment to our bridal customers for the experience they deserve. Located at the entrance to North America’s largest bridal district, one way we uniquely distinguish ourselves is through our partnership with the University of Cincinnati renowned DAAP Fashion Design Program.
Five years ago, our owner, Ed Nime, reached out to DAAP Fashion Professor Margie Voelker to establish an internship program for fashion design students, with a passion for bridal fashion and interest in entrepreneurship, to be mentored and gain experience in bridal store operation and social media marketing. This initiative resulted in Ed being asked to teach in the University of Cincinnati DAAP Fashion Design Entrepreneurship Course and a history of more than a dozen students and graduates over the years making a difference in Splendid Bridal.
At Splendid Bridal, we offer interns the opportunity to design, display and sell their custom made bridal products in our store. Items sold in the past have included a line of flower girl dresses, veils, and jewelry. Two former students and DAAP Fashion graduates, Maria and René are now employed full-time as Splendid Bridal managers. Maria previously designed and created an exclusive line of Splendid Couture private label bridal gowns. A portion of the proceeds from student creations helps fund the annual Splendid Bridal Scholarship for an entering UC DAAP Fashion freshman student. This year’s scholarship winner, Hayley Graham, is a Cincinnati-native who graduated from St. Ursula Academy.
We are proud of our special win/win partnership with the DAAP Fashion Program that makes us unique and provides interns with a fun, meaningful entrepreneurship work experience. Splendid Bridal’s team of DAAP fashion experts increases every year as we work together in achieving our mission of providing “The Experience You Deserve”.
